Sega is a Japanese video game company whose origins date back to the 1950s-1960s. Long a console maker (Master System, Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast), it was a major rival of Nintendo during the 1980s and 1990s.
Since the early 2000s, Sega has refocused on publishing and developing games, while keeping iconic franchises such as Sonic the Hedgehog. The company is now part of the Sega Sammy group.
