Wuhan, formed by the merger of three cities at the confluence of the Yangtze and the Han, is central China’s rail and river hub. The Three Gorges Dam, completed in 2012, drowned thirteen towns and displaced 1.3 million people to produce the equivalent of twenty nuclear reactors. The Wudang mountains, high places of Daoism, are associated with the birth of the internal martial arts, taijiquan foremost.
