Kagawa fits into nineteen hundred square kilometres and eats more udon per head than any other Japanese territory, to the point of unofficially trying to rename itself "Udon Prefecture". The Inland Sea islands, Naoshima foremost, have since the 1990s become a network of museums and installations that draw the contemporary art world, with the Setouchi Triennale.
