Huangguoshu Waterfall

Seventy-seven metres high and eighty-one wide, on the Baishui river. Its particularity is the Shuiliandong, "water curtain cave", a natural passage of one hundred and thirty-four metres running behind the fall and letting visitors touch its back through six openings. The traveller Xu Xiake described it in 1638. Flow varies sharply: at its highest in July and August during the monsoon, it drops in winter to the point of exposing the cliff. Eighteen other waterfalls in the same basin make up a protected group.
