Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon (Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon) is a manga by Naoko Takeuchi serialized from 1991 in Nakayoshi magazine. It follows Usagi Tsukino, a schoolgirl who transforms into a warrior to protect Earth alongside other "Sailor Guardians." The anime, produced by Toei Animation, began in 1992.

Sailor Moon reinvented the magical girl genre by blending a team of fighters with a romantic narrative, and enjoyed lasting international success with shojo audiences.
