1. Purpose

These terms govern access to and use of kotobainteractive.com, published by Kotoba Interactive. By accessing the site, you accept these terms without reservation.

2. Description of the service

• Free reading: articles, videos and the glossary are available for free, without an account.
• Free account (optional): it lets you comment on articles, save them as favorites and suggest topics to the editorial team.
• No payment on this site. The SRS learning platforms (ChineseSRS, EnglishSRS, JapaneseSRS, KoreanSRS) are separate services, governed by their own terms.

3. Registration

To create an account, you must:

• be at least 13 years old (parental consent required for ages 13 to 16 in the EU);
• provide a valid email address and accurate information;
• accept these terms and the privacy policy.

You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for any activity carried out from your account.

4. Rules of conduct

When you post comments or suggest articles, you must not:

• post illegal, hateful, defamatory, harassing or offensive content;
• infringe the rights of others (privacy, intellectual property);
• distribute spam, unsolicited advertising or malicious links;
• impersonate a third party or attempt to access another user's account;
• use bots, scripts or automated tools to collect or distribute content.

We may hide, flag or remove any content that breaches these rules, and suspend or close an account in the event of a serious or repeated breach.

5. Content you publish

You keep the rights to the comments and suggestions you publish. You grant Kotoba Interactive a free, non-exclusive license to display, store and moderate them as part of the service. You are solely responsible for the content you post and warrant that you hold the necessary rights.

6. Article suggestions

Topic suggestions are welcome but do not bind the editorial team: we are not required to process or publish them, and acting on them gives rise to no compensation.

7. Intellectual property

All editorial content on the site (text, videos, images, glossary, layout, trademarks) is the property of Kotoba Interactive or its licensors. Any unauthorised reproduction or distribution is prohibited. Only personal, non-commercial use is permitted.

8. Availability and liability

Kotoba Interactive strives to keep the site available but does not guarantee uninterrupted access: maintenance or technical incidents may occur. The service is provided as is, without warranty of being error-free.

9. Termination

• You can delete your account at any time from your settings.
• An account whose email is not verified is deleted after 30 days.
• We may close an account in the event of non-compliance with these terms.

10. Changes to the terms

We may update these terms. In the event of a substantial change, we will inform you by an appropriate means. Continuing to use the service constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, the parties will seek an amicable solution before any legal action before the competent French courts.
